Once again, a lot has happened since last week. Judge James Boasberg of the DC circuit court of appeals ordered the Trump regime to stop deporting immigrant to Venezuela and ruled there is enough evidence for probable cause to hold Trump officials in contempt of for violating the above ruling.
However, a three-judge panel, consisting of two Trump appointees and an Obama appointee, ruled along partisan lines to block all contempt proceedings by Judge Boasberg.
In Signal Gate news, Politico has released more Signal group chats, in which Pete Hegseth reportedly disclosed classified information to friends and family members. And NPR reported Monday that the Trump regime is looking for a new Secretary of Defense, a claim which Trump Press Secretary Karoline Leavit denied.
There have also been updates in the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
Sen. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland met with Garcia in Venezuela. Also, on Monday a group of democrats met with Venezuelan officials in the hopes of securing the return of Abrego Gracia. The group included Reps. Robert Garcia, Maxwell Frost, Yassamin Ansari, and Maxine Dexter.
And the dismantling of our government continues.
The FDA said it will no longer conduct routine food safety inspections, handing them off to the states to conduct. The CDC is still suppressing news regarding the spread of bird flu in humans and other diseases, while RFK Jr. continues pushing conspiracy theories and pseudoscience regarding vaccines and autism.
And this past weekend there were more Hands Off protests. Again, they were mostly peacefully.
But the big story this week is Pope Francis dying early Monday morning following a visit with JD Vance. Pope Francis was 88.
Good News
In lighter news, Easter was this past Sunday. And the rumors Trump would declare martial law on the 20th turned out to be unfounded. However, he may yet do that if the republicans in office don’t stand up to him.
We’re all afraid “of retaliation from Trump,” said republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska.
This brings me to this week’s theme.
Be Brave
This weekend I was glued to my phone, waiting with bated breath to see if Trump would declare martial law, as I’m sure many others were, too. And with every check of my news feeds, my anxiety and fear mounted.
Even now, three days out, part of me is still on edge, waiting to see what fresh hell the coming days bring. But a life lived in fear is no life at all.
So, whatever the Trump regime has in store, we must be brave and stand up to them, to him.
We must continue calling out his lies and BS when the legacy media fails to do so. We must let the world know this isn’t who all of us are, that we know this is madness. That this isn’t normal and we’re not crazy for pointing it out. That we aren’t crazy for valuing kindness and love over cruelty and hate.
But being brave doesn’t mean you aren’t afraid. Far from it.
Bravery isn’t the absence of fear. It’s being terrified and facing what scares you head on. Because on the other side of your fear is hope, is love.
Till next week, stay safe and don’t left the bastards grind ya down.
